Uniqlo break the ‘model mould’ with their Autumn campaign

Uniqlo have always been known for breaking the mould, but this time they have really surpassed themselves after announcing the new faces of their Autumn campaign.

You would instantly imagine that a cool young thing would be the brand’s new face after they had previously used Agyness Deyn and Chloe Sevigny, but this year, Uniqlo have chosen to shake things up a bit. The campaign, which features thirty different models, sees 64 year old actress Susan Sarandon take centre stage as the new face of the brand. Many will be suitably surprised at Uniqlo’s decision, but it’s a brave move by the company who are aiming to break the mould by using ‘older’ models to front their campaigns.

Susan recently applauded Uniqlo for their ‘customer service and the way they approach the brand,’ which could have led to this new joint venture, but the brand say that their choice was made as Susan represents their heart-warming ‘Made for All’ philosophy. This is proven further as the brand have plonked Susan into their range of comfy basic knitwear pieces.

Glee star Darren Criss, Laura Linney and jazz musician Esperanza Spalding are among some of the models joining Susan in the Uniqlo Autumn campaign.
