Fred Perry to Release Amy Winehouse Collections Early

After the tragic death of Amy Winehouse last month, fans were calling for Fred Perry to release their collaborations with the jazz singer, earlier than the intended Autumn release dates.

Amy had a further three collections completed with the brand that were to be showcased this Autumn/Winter 2011/12, but British sportswear label Fred Perry were wary about releasing the collections early out of respect for Amy and her family. Since her death, Fred Perry have seen a surge in sales for the pieces designed by Amy but said that “everything is on hold until we speak with Amy’s family and management.”

It has now been revealed that the early release of the collections is set to go ahead. Amy Winehouse’s father, Mitch, said in a statement: “When Fred Perry came to us to ask what we would like to do with the new collection it was natural to continue. Amy loved working on both collections and would want them to be made available. All the money we make and the donation that Fred Perry will give will go straight into to the Amy Winehouse Foundation which we are setting up to help children and young people in her name.”

The collections for Autumn/Winter 2011 and Spring/Summer 2012 will be released in stores and online soon in memory of Amy. Like many of Amy’s fans. we’re extremely pleased that the collections are being released and even happier that the proceeds will be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation.
