When Cheryl Cole wore the £15,000 dustbin lid inspired get up on last weeks X Factor show everyone wondered what on earth she was thinking, but since then diva Beyonce has also been spotted wearing the dress which has helped to raise the profile of up and coming designer, David Koma, so much so that he has become the next ‘one to watch’ fashion designer and is currently on the lips of everyone in the fashion industry.

Talking to Vogue.co.uk David said: “I have been working with Beyoncé and her team to create a unique dress and knew there was a possibility she may wear it, but when I saw her last night she looked absolutely incredible!”

David Koma graduated from Central Saint Martins early this year and has gone one to win the Harrods Design Award as well as the Vauxhall Fashion Scout Merit Award. His Spring/Summer 2010 was showcased at this years London Fashion week.

Full of intricate stylings and over the top angles, the pieces also include lots of metallic shapes and embellishments. Different materials such as leather and wool can be found in one piece and although many of the pieces are dark, there are the odd few that will brighten up your day, such as the leather and wool striped mini skirt and the wool shift dress which comes in a fabulous pina-colada yellow.

As previously mentioned, David Koma already has his Spring/Summer 2010 collection prepared and it certainly won’t be a disappointment. Keeping with the tubing and metallic elements of his Autumn/Winter collection, David is certainly creating a signature style but he manages to also branch away from that with hints of bright colours and a collection of calming white and hot pink outfits, perfect for wearing in the summer sun.

David Koma designs one off statement pieces that may not always be suitable for everyday wear but are perfect for standing out in a crowd.
