Tomorrow sees the St Andrews Charity Fashion Show take place in Scotland and Italian sports car manufacturer, Alfa Romeo has chosen the finalists in its search for the prestigious Alfa Romeo Young Designer Award.

The five shortlisted candidates have had their designs photographed at St Andrews harbour and will now present their ideas on the day of the event to a panel of experts including Alfa Romeo ambassador and PPQ design director, Amy Molyneaux.

The finalist’s designs cleverly incorporate key aspects of the Alfa Romeo brand including the famous front grill clearly visible in creations of Hugo Mills and blurred photographs of the Alfa MiTo as a print used by Judy Zhang.

The lucky winner will receive £1000 in prize money, and funding to produce an item of clothing for chosen charity Trekstock, which supports young people with cancer.

Head of Brand for Alfa Romeo UK, Damien Dally, said: “Having seen the final designs modelled it is clear that the standard of the competition is exceptional and deciding a winner will be a hugely difficult task. The designers were briefed to create an outfit with inspiration taken from Alfa Romeo, a brand which evokes style, and it’s inspiring to see how the candidates have incorporated this element into their final designs.”

PPQ’s Amy Molyneaux added: “From what I’ve seen so far the designs look great. It’s been really good to be involved in a project such as this whereby Alfa Romeo is not only supporting emerging UK fashion but also contributing to a very worth charity in Trekstock.”
