Although it was McQueen and Sarah Burton’s name behind the creation of the dress, the designer obviously had a little help from workers at the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace. The needleworkers had no idea that they were designing a dress for Royalty and they washed their hands every thirty minutes in order to keep the lace clean and in good condition.

The Duchess of Cambridge recently visited the Royal School of Needlework to thank those that helped to create her dress. The Duchess spoke to 30 members of staff and thanked them for their hard work, commenting on the pressure they must have been under to design something so intricate.

Talking to the Telegraph newspaper after the Duchess’ visit, the school’s chief executive, Susan Kay-Williams said: “It was lovely to meet The Duchess of Cambridge and to show her what the Royal School of Needlework does.”

Talking to Vogue.co.uk, the popular designer revealed that she had been in talks with Net-a-Porter.com to launch a plus size collection.

“Net-a-Porter.com asked us if we would go bigger [to a size 16] and we would – we had a discussion with them. I buy online – I think as a bigger size, you feel more comfortable trying things at home. With the interiors, we just added more information. So, on a size 8, you get the sofa, the mantelpiece and the flower, whereas on a size 14 you get the sofa, the mantelpiece, the bush and the room next door,” she said.

“I was looking at a size 14 woman wearing our dress and I thought, ‘I can’t believe we don’t go bigger than that size!’ because she looked tiny,” she said. “Sometimes designers are blamed for not going to a size 16, but it’s not that: it’s that there isn’t demand [from buyers]. So I think if buyers were more brave to try it for a couple of seasons, they would sell more and designers would produce more.”

We think it would be a great idea for Katrantzou to launch a bigger sized range of clothes, making fashion more accessible to everybody.

The 27 year old singer arrived in Paris at the Viktor and Rolf Autumn/Winter 2012 catwalk show wearing an all Blue outfit, complete with matching bouffant hair.

Showing her support to the designer, Perry wore an electric blue Viktor and Rolf trench coat with cut out scroll patterns on the lapels. Underneath she wore a simple black dress with blue/turquoise scroll shapes embellished all over which she then accessorised with black tights and musical note earrings.

Perry carried a ‘Pilule’ bag by Christian Louboutin, with a shoulder length gold chain and wore sultry sunglasses that covered up yet more blue in the form of her eye make-up.

The trip saw the three Royals meeting military personnel and taking a tour of the restaurant which has been renamed ‘The Diamond Jubilee Tea Station’.

All three ladies wore different shades of blue for the occasion. The Queen wore a smart pale blue outfit with matching hat, while Camilla wore a navy blue coat with white horizontal stripes. Of course, with Kate Middleton being the most stylish of all the Royals, all eyes were on her and her blue wool M Missoni coat.

The blue M Missoni coat comes from the Italian fashion house’s sister label and is a break from the traditional English labels that the Duchess usually wears. However, she did manage to work a little bit of British into her outfit with her Rupert Sanderson heels.

The actress, famous for her roles in Harry Potter and Sweeney Todd, turned up to the palace on Wednesday 22nd in a suitably gorgeous all over tartan Vivienne Westwood suit, that wasn’t as wacky as expected. The tartan suit consister of a jacket top and ankle length skirt with ruffle detailing on the back. She wore her hair swept to one side, with a black top hat style fascinator.

The actress, who most recently played the Queen’s mother in The King’s Speech, attended the ceremony with her film director husband Tim Burton, her mother Elena and her two children, Billy Ray and Nell.

Bonham Carter spoke only to the Press Association after receiving her award, she dedicated the award to her late father and went on to say: “I am thrilled though not sure that I deserve it, I am delighted to accept such a wonderful honour in his memory.”

The Italian fashion label has chosen the 15 year old star of Hugo, in recognition of her ‘outstanding achievements and her embodiment of style and grace,’ and she will collect her prestigious award at a ceremony in Beverly Hills on June 12th.

Traditionally, the award is given to an actress who is experiencing a turning point in her career, and it seems that is certainly the case for Moretz, who started in the industry at just seven years old, starring in films such as ‘(500) Days of Summer’ and ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid,’ and more recently ‘Let Me In’ and ‘Hugo’.

The rising young starlet has been photographed in a range of designer labels, including Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and Stella McCartney and she looks right at home on the red carpet.

We’re not surprised that she has been awarded the ‘Face of the Future’ honour as she always looks super stylish and she has a great Hollywood acting career ahead of her, with her next movie being a leading role in The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea.

The great news comes soon after the announcement that Creative Director Raf Simons is to step down from the label, amongst rumours that his new home will be at Christian Dior.

After an eight year break, Sander will be returning to the label on Tuesday 28th and she can be safe in the knowledge that no more personality and artistic clashes will be taking place after the label was sold to British private equity firm Change Capital Partners. A spokesperson for Sander, released a statement on the designer’s behalf, saying: “I am very happy and excited to be back. It feels like coming home after a brief journey.

The Jil Sander brand is ingrained in my very being, naturally, my vision of sophisticated, truly modern design stayed with me, as vivid as on the first day. Paradigms change and evolve from season to season, but the heart of a brand doesn’t alter. It will be a great challenge and a greater joy to design Jil Sander’s contemporary identity. J Crew’s company’s executive creative director, Jenna Lyons confirmed that plans to launch a London based store were in the pipeline and a store, and more to follow, were expected from 2013. “We’re looking at spaces on Regent Street. And I wouldn’t mind being in Covent Garden for a smaller store. It won’t be just one store – we’re not gonna be stingy.”

J Crew have a huge British following but don’t currently have a UK based shop or website. Instead, Brits can only get their hands on J Crew’s goodies via Net-a-Porter.com or they can wait patiently for delivery from the US website JCrew.com.

In the statement, Jenna Lyons also added: “We have a huge British following already – our New York stores get a lot of customers, and what we do is not very well represented in the British market. There are very classic clothes, but they’re high end. And women’s especially, there isn’t that classic tailoring but with a twist, and also colour, which we do. So from what I’ve been told we might be hopefully filling a niche.”

We can’t wait for J Crew to come to the UK as they have the potential to heavily influence Brit’s fashion and style.

Not only did Chanel’s head honcho offend the Russians, by saying “If I was a woman in Russia I would be a lesbian, as the men are very ugly. There are a few handsome ones, like Naomi Campbell’s boyfriend, but there you see the most beautiful women and the most horrible men,” but he also offended the Greek population, The Royal Family, Barack and Michelle Obama and singers Lana Del Ray and Adele.

The 78 year old designer said that Britain’s Royal Family was “unnecessary,” and described her majesty the Queen as “a more smiley version of her grandmother.” He also gave his opinion on Barack Obama’s presidency, claiming that he wouldn’t have been voted if it wasn’t for his wife, Michelle, of who Karl is a big fan.

However, it was his comments on British singer Adele’s size that caused the most anger, after he claimed that the singer was “a little too fat.” He did add that the singer had a “divine voice and a beautiful face” but those comments fell on deaf ears as people on both sides of the pond stood up for the British singer, who has always celebrated her size.

Since the fashion designer guest-edited the Metro newspaper, he has announced that his comments were ‘taken out of context,’ adding “she is my favourite singer and I am a great admirer of her.” In a statement, Lagerfeld claimed that the comments were actually about singer Lana Del Ray who is a relatively new face on the music scene. The statement read; “Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought. What I said was in relation to Lana Del Rey and the sentence has since been taken out of context from how it was originally published.”

The label, who’s plastic footwear has become iconic in the fashion world, kicked off New York Fashion Week with a grand opening of their new Galeria Melissa flagship store in Manhattan, New York. This is the first store opening for the company outside of their native Brazil.

The new store, which is located on Greene Streen in Manhattan’s popular SoHo area, incorporates retail with a great exhibition space for the company to showcase their collaborations with Thierry Mugler, Gareth Pugh and of course, Vivienne Westwood. The company is keen for the store to continue celebrating the ethos of combining art and design within fashion.

A whole host of big names turned out for the store’s opening night, including designers Marc Jacobs and Jason Wu and Hollywood names such as Vanessa Hudgens, Whitney Port and even Dita Von Teese managed to brave the snow to attend.
